Description: The Lead Web Developer will architect cutting edge technology initiatives for an art museum setting committed to innovative and inclusive learning for in-person and virtual visitors. This role will lead initiatives including web, Business Intelligence, machine learning and digital engagement.

The Lead Web Developer will have a breadth of knowledge across modern platforms and technologies, be self-motivated and continually develop their understanding of emerging technologies, seeking to adhere to best practices in front-end and back-end coding, systems architecture, and deployment. This position reports to the Chief Technology Officer and will work with a variety of teams and partners across multiple disciplines.

Beyond coding skills, this position will manage multiple projects in parallel and lead them through to completion and product release, including: coordinating meetings and launches with involved teams and stakeholders, gathering requirements and use-cases, conducting code reviews, ensuring reliability and extensibility of applications, and other inspections necessary to ensure projects meet established technological standards and accessibility standards. In addition to working on internal web projects, the Lead Web Developer is responsible for defining internal standards and guidelines designed to foster maintainable coding practices and system design while ensuring these standards are implemented across all consultant projects in addition to internal ones.

Responsibilities:

Job Specific Competencies:

• Responsible for maintaining the foundation’s Craft CMS and main website, collections website and various existing microsites, web applications, and other technology initiatives.
• Maintains and develops new web and cloud-deployed applications at the foundation for a number of new technology initiatives ranging being from web, mobile, and data-processing focused.
• Fostering maintainable coding practices and system design while ensuring these standards are implemented across all vendors and consultants.
• Coordinates with distributed teams and act as the point-of-contact to ask and answer technical questions between these teams and key stakeholders.
• Deploy and integrate applications into existing cloud infrastructure.
• Managerial responsibilities including leading and guide a small but nimble team to deliver well-built products on-time.
• Ensuring proper and optimal delegation of responsibilities to team under your supervision and achievement of project goals in suitable deadlines.
• Ability to shift gears and context switch as required by long-term projects, short-term goals/tasks, and occasional troubleshooting/resolution.

Skills and Knowledge:

Required:

• 2+ Years’ experience with o TypeScript o Node.js o creating and maintaining cloud-deployed applications (AWS highly preferred) o developing web application client-side and server infrastructure
• A desire to engage with stakeholders and turn business requirements into technical requirements and functional code
• Excellent communication skills; able to articulate complex technology concepts to non-technologists
• Experience with o frontend frameworks (React highly preferred) o source control management systems (GitHub preferred) o user authentication through client/server cookies and server-side sessions while meeting secure web practices o creating clear and concise code, documentation, and guidelines o working effectively with and leading remote teams

Preferred:

• Experience working with o Third-party REST APIs and API authentication schemes o MySQL, PostgreSQL and Elastic Search o AWS services including Lambda, RDS, S3, Elastic Beanstalk, API Gateway, among others for successful operation of the Barnes Foundation infrastructure o Android Studio SDK/Kotlin o Craft CMS, PHP/Twig, Python o CSS style guides that can be used to share UI components across different teams o unit and integration testing systems o Microservices/SOA architecture and best practices
